What's happening in the world of social media?
Share
The #SuperbTeam has had a thought on their minds for a while, but it was yesterday afternoon that that thought became, so to speak, a reality. A cosmetics company announced it was abandoning virtually all social media platforms, especially Instagram, " until it can be confirmed that they are a safe space for users ."
After these statements, we want to go back a bit to the past, to how it all began. Instagram began as a social network where you could share with your followers—at the beginning, basically friends and acquaintances—your daily life, your hobbies, your lifestyle... in a completely healthy way. It's true, we can't deny it, that when this social network took a step further and became a showcase for brands, many of us saw it as a great opportunity to show the world what we do. But what happened now?
The aforementioned firm has made this decision for various reasons, although the most relevant, at least for us, relate to the harm to which younger people are exposed. On numerous occasions, we have witnessed how many people, some of them public figures, blame social media for no longer being a safe place, a place to share reality, and everything is disguised by filters, fake smiles, or photos in which we appear to be happy but, in reality, we are going through a bad time. We have also witnessed cases of "haters" who believe they are brave for being behind a screen.
We can't deny that social media today has, at times, negative effects, and that, although it may be a slow and complicated process, it's in our power to go back to the beginning, to convey what we truly want or feel. Why does Superb have an Instagram account? You might be asking yourself this question right now. Well, since we're talking about this, we want to take this opportunity to send a message. We have an Instagram account because we're a brand, okay, but we're Superb, and Superb is a movement, a community of #happy people. We don't want hate, we don't accept it, and we never will, neither in our community nor among our followers. And we're in the process of conveying to you through this platform a lifestyle where everyone does what they want, how they want, with the only requirement being to be happy and not bother others. There are no stereotypes, no labels, no false realities. This is life, this is our happiness, and we convey it as best we know how, although always in a completely realistic and healthy way. If we talk about products, we know that sometimes we arrive late with collections, that perhaps we don't always surprise you in the way you would like, but hey, we are a local brand, with a small team that is also a family, and while the collections arrive or don't arrive, we always look for a way to transmit that lifestyle, to show you the reality of how each one can be happy in their own way and, above all, how happiness is a lifestyle that should be a priority for each one of us.
The brand in question also echoes how we sometimes measure things by likes or followers, by how many photos we post per week, or by whether our content is quality or not. All of this is far from reality; you're not better for having more followers or more likes, nor are you better if the Instagram algorithm shows you more or less. Any social network can be a way to communicate, to feel closer, to show what we love to do most, to inspire other people... #BeHappyBeSuperb
